I picked up a few six packs from the Lobethal Bierhaus the other week. Quality drop.

Re: What are you drinking now?

I have a Pilsner and a delicious Rum Porter that tastes of rum and coffee on tap.

Tonight, I have a fine selection from my shelves to drink the night away! Japanese Lager, Hefeweizen, Weizenbock, Old Ale, Oak Pale Ale, Belgian Blond, and a Barleywine

Dogger Dan

Some of you may remember one of our forum users from long ago, Dogger Dan. He shifted most of his thoughts to a different site, but much of his legacy remains here.

Hate to be the one to inform you, but Dogger Dan recently passed away after a brief battle with cancer.

He will be missed.

Yes I was a bit surprised to get that email, I completely lost track of time

Hiatus for me too - drinking the old stock to make space, busy with work, not busy enough with life, etc

Planning to make an Oatmeal Stout before the weather chills down, and perhaps something else. Also ...

I'm still alive

I'm making a note here: huge success.

Not brewing quite as often as I used to, but I have found a bulk supplier of Orange Blossom Honey to have a real crack at a mead.

I can't believe it's been a year since I posted

I have checked on you all occasionally though!

I'm still here

Just busier than I've ever been before... I suddenly decided that I needed to live life, women and travel before I reach the wrong side of 30, only a few years left!

Got a Dortmunder in secondary, going to pitch a sample of the trub into a Schwarz tomorrow.

Would have pitched straight onto the ...

I was in my local Coles today, and saw the kit still outrageously priced at $20

Obviously they didn't get the memo

England, Germany and the Low Countries

Yes that's right, I've finally scratched together enough cash to go to the EVE Online festival in Iceland in November!

Since I've flown all that way to get there, and I'm already stopping in the UK to visit a close friend studying at Oxford, I thought I'd make the most of the trip :D

After Oxford ...

I looked and looked, but never could find this on sale. Same story as the Rum Rebellion Porter last year, every store I went to wanted it, but no one knew who had it.

Re: Monarchists blast Coopers ad

I've never seen this ad, must only have been on east coast screens.

I heard Coopers have decided to pull the campaign though, after the Monarchists kindly provided all the name dropping and publicity gold that money can't buy

I use Woolworths brand Napisan to clean, and no rinse Orthophosphoric Acid to sanitise, which I don't rinse.

Re: Black Rock Wheat

Every Black Rock kit comes with the same basic Ale yeast - which is, unless I'm very much mistaken, the same basic Ale yeast that comes with every Goldrush, Tooheys and Brewiser kit can, regardless of the style on the label.

If you want a wheat yeast, aside from the obvious 3068 Weihenstephan ...

Re: NEW TO BREWING - UNIMPRESSED WITH LOCAL HBS

Well, although using a fresh wort kit like he suggested will usually result in a better beer, you can make plenty fine beer for less using the kit and setup you bought.

As for kegs, well... I have a keg system, but it's only 2 kegs and it cost me near on $800, and that's after getting a chest ...

Re: Labels

I bought a box of standard office A4 16 per sheet (2x8) sticky labels from Officeworks. Then I just use the label wizard in OpenOffice Writer, which coupled with the product code on the label box gives the exact size of the sheet and labels, and then I just manipulate one label however I fancy ...
