Yeast farming is a hobby within in a hobby so to speak.
You can go full on into farming/culturing as a hobby unto itself.
I could ramble on for hours, but the easiest way is to either make a big
Starter from your Wyeast pack or White labs vial and split into several containers, then
use each split ...

I regularly ferment at 16-17 with US05 and it
produces a very good faux lager.
Most people that drink it cant really tell its an ale!
S189 ferments well at these temps also and is a lager yeast.

I would call it extract brewing. Sounds the same as any other can of extract you can buy. "something" hops in liquid form sounds like isohop to me.

I have made the ESB fresh wort Lager with whitelabs WLP838 southern German lager yeast.
Added 5lt water and fermented away. Has to be the most simple beer I have ever brewed.
3 weeks in bottle and it tastes fantastic.Best (kit) beer ever brewed :D
Highly recommended to anyone wishing to try an AG ...

This ones a simple k+k, but very nice at 3 months

Punters Pale Ale


1.7kg can Coopers Aus.Pale Ale
500gm light dry malt
250gm Dex
250gm Corn syrup
30gm Cascade Hops

This is a very simple beer, but enjoyed by everyone. Its the only k+k brew I now make, got one bubbling away right now :wink:

American Pale Ale

1.7kg Coopers Aus. Pale Ale
2kg trad pale malt
500gm Vienna malt
200gm crystal
110 gm cascade hops

mash grain, start boil, add 40gm cascade @60 min, 20gm @30min, 20gm @ flame out.
use Whitelabs California Ale WLP001 yeast
Similar to Little Creatures Pale Ale

Tooheys Lager

A mate brought round a can of this stuff on Sat. and asked me to brew it for him. I have never brewed this one before, so threw in a couple of extra bits and pieces. The recipe goes like this:
Tooheys special lager 1.7kg
carapils 200gm- steeped
crystal 150gm - steeped
LDM 250gm
Dex 250gm
EKG- 10gm ...
