Dogger,

never been to Canada [yet], but heard some great bands from there - Mahogany Rush and if Frank Marino isn't one of the all-time guitar legends, I don't know why not...

Saw Rush in Scotland a few years back..awesome

As for the US what about Frank Zappa? A genius and very underated.

REM are one of my favourites, but up to and before Green. Some of the later stuff does not do much for me. Their earliest days were the best....Seen them 3 times too...
I formed a new group called Alcoholics-Unanimous. If you don't feel like a drink, you ring another member and he comes over to persuade you.

well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me.

lived in the uk for quite a few years and had a mate that always told me that joke because I was into them at the time.

didn't mean to offend, I'm sure Bolan wouldn't give a shit.

no offence taken, & certainly none intended, yard.

Only mentioned it cause I too spent a long time over there...went down to the spot one miserable sleety grey London day. Well, that could have been a summer's day, actually.

My current partner was unpacking a box of her old shit a while back , I was amazed at how many TV Week/RAM/Juke posters of Bolan she had kept for 20+ years.
And of course also Sherbet, Hooks, Supernaut, ACDC, TMG, Rabbit...ooh yeah she rocks this woman. Good thing she became a punk rocker at 17.

Was down at the Queenscliff Music Festival on the weekend (same place I saw Rose Tattoo a couple of years back).

Jimi Hocking ( http://www.jimihocking.com ) was playing.

Absolutely fantastic. If you ever get the chance, do yourself a favor. He plays around Melbourne a bit, so keep an eye out. Next time he's at the Elsternwick Hotel, I'll be there.

(Jimi's dad is a composer. He wrote the Countdown theme. Remember it ... Da da da da da da da da Countdoooooooown. :D )

Jimi Hocking,
Former Screaming Jet from the middle era of the bands history.
And damn fine muso as Olly points out.

Aaahh, Jimi the Human.

I only saw him with the Jets, and only on a couple of occasions, but he came with a towering rep...

Now they (the SJ's) were a 90's staple... them and the Baby Animals... stood at Suze DeMarchi's feet on a number of occasions, back in the days when "Waves" was the Wollongong band spot...
