Boiling water by itself is generally good enough to kill anything, but putting a sanitiser into boiling water will often destroy the active ingredient.
Sodium met is garbage in my opinion.
One-shot contains phosphoric acid as the major active ingredient, so look for that if you can't find the brand name itself. I think it also goes by the name Brewshield.

Thanks Chris.
I always use the sodium perc. mixed with warm water, nor boiling. Then, after rinsing, I'll use boiling water. That is what I just used (boiling water) to bottle 60 stubbies of a Kirin clone on Sunday and hopefully they'll stay 'slime free'.
I'll check for the one-shot with that further info from you (ta) next time I go to hb shop.

The One-shot is best used in a bottle washer- have you got one? It makes life a LOT easier when sanitising bottles.

Re: Pain in the Glass
The only bottle washer I have is myself, a steady hand and a kettle )or pyrex jug if using sanitiser).
Excuse my ignorance but what is a bottle washer? (I have a wife but I don't think that is what you mean................)

Thats it, you people have stood in my way long enough, I'm going to clown college
Re: Pain in the Glass
That first link is the one I have. Bloody brilliant. It greatly reduces the amount of water and sanitiser used, as well as saving a LOT of time. It's even easier if you get the wife to do it for you...

Re: Pain in the Glass
Sorry to keep off topic but FWIW if you end up getting the one in the first link, throw the little star thing that sits where the bottle comes down to in the bin, grab yourself a washer that will fit over the top and file a few slots on the inner hole of the washer so the water will still flow and use that. Those little star things break so often it's not funny, especially if your in the middle of washing and don't have a spare

Re: Pain in the Glass
I'll consider these; thanks.
That would involve getting a new wife, mate. More chance of me becoming a member of the temperance society than getting any help in the hb dept from the missus...............(she is a good cook though and her curries do warrant a couple of beers to complement them)It's even easier if you get the wife to do it for you...![]()
