Agreed. Don't mess with that shit, it's super-high pressure. Unless you have the exact right fittings, that you trust won't rupture, run away!
Having said that, I have decanted BBQ gas from one cylinder to another, using the correct fittings. You do this by pouring the
liquid from one cylinder to another, i.e. by raising one cylinder above the other, and pouring the liquid through the hose.
But be careful, and ask yourself if saving the $27 or whatever to get it filled professionally is worth more than your life.
