Re: Pics of a brew day

Thanks for the info Doc. I think my issue is also due to the fact my 45L coleman esky bottom is somewhat undulating, to say the least. But for $10 bucks at a garage sale, I wont complain. I also stir like a mad b*stard to ensure even temp, so probably knock the falsie around a fair bit.

My father ...

Re: Pics of a brew day

Hi Doc,

Noticed in your pic of the false bottom you had what look liked something clipped to the bottom. Is yours the open bottom as it's sold, or have you made some mods? Reason I'm asking is, I have the same falsie from Wayne but am having some trouble with grain getting underneath and making its ...

Thanks guys. Will give K-mart a go and if no luck have a look at wine section in HB store.

Just one question - you don't think there'd be any issues with mash temp wort leaching any chems from the tap/valve?

Hi Yardy,

Sorry to bring up old post, but wondering where you got the tap from?

I am building a similar setup and can't seem to find a tap like that or similar very easily. Any suggestions on where to acquire one?

Thanks

according to coopers the PET bottles are lined with a special membrane to prevent the loss of Co2 through osmosis. Normal PET will eventually lose it's gas I believe. Could have been dodgy caps?

Hi Swifty,

chris. mentioned in a response to one of my earlier posts that the hops schedule from the AG should be used. I'm going to give this recipe a go this weekend. My grain and hops should be arriving today (thanks Ross :).

Just a question for chris. or anyone else who might know - when doing ...

Buying Bulk Grain

Have been researching all grain brewing (so much good info on here) but was wondering where people in Sydney got their bulk grain from? Any recommendations?

Thanks

Just in case anyone was worried - I sent an email to BMW plastics who make the barrell I picked up at bunnings. They confirmed the PVC is food grade :)

Tickstar,

A partial would work well. You could even try using some wheat LME instead of mashing the wheat.
Around 500-750g of Vienna malt would be a good place to start IMO. I'd try something like:

1.5kg Coopers Wheat LME
1kg DME (or 1.2kg LME if you prefer)
750g Vienna malt
Hops as above ...

Hi Al, just do what I do and twist the caps back on after filling. Has worked a treat for me for over 5 cases worth of bottles now :D. A lot quicker than capping them too. But make sure you wash and sanitize caps.

Cheers

I tried this beer a few days ago on tap and I think I'm in love  The depth of hops flavour/aroma is simply amazing.

Chris - I'd be keen to give your recipe a go, however I'm not geared up for AG. I've done one or 2 extracts though. Do you think it would work if I used the ratios you suggested ...

Its hot alright..

My Wetpack APA has been in primary for about 7 days so hopefully the temps dont affect it too much.. of to secondary it goes tomorrow.

These TCB Wetpak APA's really seem popular. One of the guys at TCB Girraween was saying they can't produce them fast enough to keep up with ...

thanks Greg. Just wanted to make sure. If s-04 is the standard yeast then I'm happy with that. I'll be putting it down tomorrow when it cools down a bit here in North Parra. At the moment it's "get F*cked" hot and definitely not brewing weather. Although BOM predicts lower temps for the next week ...

Question re: TCB APA Wetpak

Hi,

After reading rave reviews on the TCB APA Wetpack and being a huge little creatures fan, I went down to the local TCB and picked one up. Just one question - It came with a safale s-04 (English Ale) yeast, can anyone else who's brewed one confirm it's the s-04 that should come with it and not ...

Picked up one of the bunnings 25l round drums. For $16 can't complain. And the girl at the register didn't scan the tap so got it for free :) Might try using a bit of plumbers tape around the tap thread if the seal's a bit loose.

Now I can rack and bulk prime. Woohoo!

Have just bottled my first Ginger beer , upon returning to store to puchase more brewing supplies , I was informed that the contents of the brew kit I used , was recalled , due to not having enough Ginger in kit .
I used . Is there anything I can do to . Everything else seems to be ok

Just got back from big w with a couple of boxes of bottles, cheapest I've seen them too, $11.32. They also have the coopers kits on special for $59.

They're a bit smaller than I imagined them to be, I don't think it'll be a struggle to polish one or two off in a sitting.

Before I use ...

so the carlton bottles seal back up with just the twist off?

They sure do. Have done 4 cases worth so far and not had 1 dud bottle. When screwing cap back on get one of those rubber jar opener gripper things and just screw them back on firmly. When they carbonate I think the pressure seals them ...
