Love my Guinness, and drink it 'till the cows have not only come home, but are getting angry at me for not cleaning up their social area.

The cans i have found to be hit and miss, sometimes they are ok, others just water with food die. However if you're going to be buying so you can take it home ...

What really makes me giggle is when friends of mine roll their own cigs and put in a filter, losing taste and perhaps only prolonging their life by 20 minutes when they're going to be struck by lightning anyway!

i personaly prefer my pipe. At the moment sucking away at an Amphora full aromoatic ...

sorry to hijack the thread, but SUBREW, have you tried any of the macs kits?

i brought one back from my trip to NZ and is one of the best kits i have made.

Tripple Malt Dark was the one i got...only made 11 litres which made me a sad panda. But tasted bloody brilliant

i have stirred my brews since bulk priming. very gently of course, and they have all turned out fine . No infections, no off tastes

Don't know how it would go with stirring up all the old yeast, but more power to you!

They make you feel like a king drinking out of them :)

i got my fist for being a regular customer at the local piss shop, the other i got sent to me from the lowenbrau keller in sydeny.

yep, was quite nice. Not the best beer i have made, certainly not the worst.

Give it plenty of time to age, 3 or so months (i like to drink mine as soon as i can get me paws on them 2 weeks).

i added 500 grams of dark liquid malt as well. i like my beer to either be a stout or a lager, not in ...

alcohol is used as a preservative yes?

Well surely it can only keep the liver in top notch condition?

i'll be damned if the government or phsycologists that i frequent can convince me otherwise! :)

As for buying two fermenters, why not get three?

i like to use dextrose. Can't impart any flavours at all.

My first beer had half drops and half table sugar, and to me, the sugar tasted more bitter just not as nice. i know i wasn't biased because i had no love for either method or know anyone who did.

Not completely sure, but i think dextrose ...

my very first beez neez, was after i had quite a few under the belt, and for some reason the honey flavour was massive. Just the best.

Since i have had about 3 more, and been dissapointed every time, as i had it as a starter.

So i am very sad and confused (more than the usual) about it all. i can ...

new zealand has some bloody rippers for pretty good price. Montieths, about 1 buck more than VB, for well over 10 times enjoyment factor. :)

if i wasn't brewing so much, i would go back and get more.

Since we're bagging VB, i think i saw a slab going for around $80 aus while i was in england a ...

for amounts of sugar, do it based on a grams per litre.

For stouts i do about 5g/L. which is fairly low (probably fizzier than comercial though).

Ales around 5-6g/L and lagers around 6-7. Ginger beer being the highest at 9g/L.

That's how i like them, and as we know everyone is different, so just ...

again cascade..my favourite, if i drank tea, i would drink a cup of cascade.

i use Morgans hop bag of cascade. Piss easy to use, gives all the flavour but hardly any bitterness, unless boiled (i steep it in a cup while im mixing everything).
Probably not as nice as free floating cascade hops, but ...

hehe weakling NTrabbit!! :)

i presumed he had a plastic one. Glass, you could, block off the airlock put a small plastic bag around the top and seal with a couple of rubber bands. IF it inflates then there's a leak, or introduced leak ;)

if the carboy explodes, then it wasn't your seal

just check and make sure there are no leaks.

To test put a little water on the lid around the airlock and squeeze the carboy. If it bubbles through the rubber gromit then there's that problem. If that doesn't bubble and the airlock doesn't move a lot, then your seal is needing more tightening ...

Hmmm my new pet favourite at the moment is oats in stouts. Reckon it could work with an ale like this?

As for hops, hard choice, but despite my undying love for cascade, i'd go the fuggles. Just reckon that would be slightly tastier. i also found that hersbrucker hops were ...

tell him he's out of the family, unless he gives you a break, or a free used car.

If he resists, find yourself a horse head....

Hmmm, as for recipe, maybe try some hallertau hops and some malt extract of your liking, that's what im about to try with a coopers pale ale

you could also add some oats to it. Very nice. Turns it into a breakfast beer. Well more so than the rest :)
