Hi Fullbottle,
If and when you get the papers published I'd be interested in reading them.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Have had a couple of Stubbies of Little Creatures PA on the weekend (don't like it ), but I will suffer through the other 4 stubbies.
also tried a couple of FAT Yaks, This tastes very simular to the Home brew I have on tap at the moment, but smells quite florally compared to mine, should pour the ...

Re: HB&B trifecta
Every 3rd brew or so I do a really easy and early drinker like a Hefeweizen or a Mild. Can drink those from 1 to 2 weeks post bottling. That allows my other stocks of APA, IPA, ESB, Pils etc to mature, before drinking those.
Once you know your average consumption, it is easy to plan your brewing ...

Re: Creamy Kit & Bits
Hi Ron,
I'm guessing that your OG reading was perhaps artificially elevated by having some undissolved malt in the test tube (can happen if it's sitting towards the bottom of the fermenter and you open the tap. I like to discard my first 100mL, or so, before taking any test) and I'd guess that you ...

Just an Update.
Still in the fermenter, to a hydro test 6 days ago was 22, reading today is 14,
Sample taken for test is a creamy coloured beer, Taste is initially sweet and by the time you say " Hmm!! thats a bit sweet" you get this suberb bitterness, had to have another sip.

What finally resolve the problem was pulling the pouring tap apart and giving it a good clean.

Creamy Kit & Bits
HI Guys,
Just made a Kit and Bits but used Light liquid malt for the first time.
On the stove top I did the usual, boil the water add 500 grams sugar and disolved as normal, I then add a Kilo tin of Malt extact and it went real creamy light caramel colour and thickened right up.

Re: 3 Months for Cider?
oops missed that >.<
THat's a wild recipe. I'd thought that you would need a lot more apple juice to make it fly, is it good an appley?
And ale yeast with white sugar? Doesn't give it funny flavours? I thought you'd need wine yeast for that type of thing, I'm very intrigued and might just have to ...

Re: Cider / lactose question
I just stated drinking my 3rd Cider tonight, it is quite sweet and I hadn't added any lactose.
I think the sweetness has come from either the brand of apple juice used, or the yeast type, or possibly the brewing Temp. The cider I'm drinking tonight was brewed at a higher temp that what I had ...

Re: 3 Months for Cider?
I ferment my ciders for 2 weeks the same as beer. Throw them in a keg for a couple of weeks at shed temp then into the fridge for another week while they cool down and carb up, then drink
they come out pretty darn good.
I saw the show also and thought that strange, But then I don't know anything ...
