then at flame out add 0.5kg Dextrose and another 0.5kg LDME

Came up with a recipe in the end, made it, brewed it and bottled it......8 weeks later it won the West Australian Amateur Brewing Championships Pale Lager section...
Not bad for my first go......Sent a bottle to the Australian National Championships thats on this weekend in Canberra.

OK....but should i add the same amount for flavour and aroma.??? i know the strength will mean more hops to add...just want the same taste of beer and if i add more hops then will this affect the taste or not.??....

Different alpha acid
I made a recipe and want to redo it but the alpha acid content of the hops is different. I know i should adjust the bittering amount of hops using beersmith to get the same IBU, but does the amount for flavour and aroma matter.?? meaning does the alpha acid content just bitter.??

How to make stout creamy.??
I am thinking of making a stout, guinness style and was wondering how to second ferment. In the bottle with sugar or just bottle it.?? i dont have a keg or nitrogen so is it possible to get the creaminess without nitrogen.???

excellent article but how much grain and DME.???? what type of mash was that so i can enter into brewsmith......or just do it and get an SG reading and dilute to what i want.???

whats the best way to mash....I have brewsmith software and was going to make a partial mash and confused as to which mash is best...or easiest....why have so many ways...single with no batch out, some with batch sparge....etc etc..then theres steeping....

Are you using finings.?????? if not get some household gelatine, non flavoured from the supermarket. when the brew has slowed down bubbling, take an SG reading, if near 1012 or a few above expected FG, add 1 teaspoon of gelatine to a bowl, add some hot water stir and add to brew. gently stir and ...

I personally take a reading and know it will be too high as sediment from the tap that are not mixed is in there. then i take 2 more and these are usually the same and anything 10-15 below the first.....i use these as the SG......

the first K and K i did was 7 days from putting down to drinking...!!!! I also left a couple of bottles for 2 months to test the theory of longer the better the taste.....to me no difference, but now months on i am brewing extract and my own recipes and leaving at least 1 month in the bottle. Most people use a copper coil, but checking at Bunnings and for 12m and fittings, will be $65....has anyone used anything else.??? hose pipe.?? not being a chemist i would not know the dangers of boiling hose or whatever else would bring the cost down.???

just made a tooheys dry lager kit with 1Kg of dextrose but used saflager S-23 yeast instead of kit one. Fermented in 7 days. (SG 1035 FG 1009). bottled as usual and after 1 week opened a bottle as usual to see if fermented, but no fizz at all.???

Just put down my first real own brew.
half a can of malt extract (0.55l)
500g of dextrose
500g of dried wheat malt
10 g of tettenanger hop pellets
boiled for 30 mins
then at flame out added 250g of honey, stirred and sat for 5 mins then added to fermenter
topped up to 12 litre and pitched ...
