Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

SNPA now at Dan Murphy's (I saw it last weekend - along with their IPA and Heffeweizen).

They were all in the $20-$22 per six pack range from memory.

Rejoice!

Fresh Juice Cider Help

Hey all,

So, after trying a kit cider variation, and a store bought juice cider, I have taken the plunge and made a cider with fresh juice. I bought 20 litres of fresh pressed apple juice from Kellybrook Wineries cider festival to have a crack.

Now, my first two ciders were crazy dry. Dryer than a ...

Basic Cider Questions

I'm about to make up my second cider. The first one was a kit recipe from the HB shop. This time I'm doing a recipe, or a version of a recipe that I found on here (Oliver's I think).

1 can Black Rock Cider
1kg glucose
125g lactose
3 Granny Smith apples (might go five apples with a mix of varieties ...

Have I buggered it?

So in a brewing frenzy tonight I put down two extract brews at once. One of which is, or at least was, an IPA. Somehow in my juggling of the two, I've buggered something and the IPA that should have had an OG of about 1055 (it's a recipe I've used before) has come out with an OG of 1098! :shock ...

SNPA! Reculture?

I'm so excited. After years of hearing about this beer, I just walked into the HB shop and there on the shelf was a single, solitary stubby of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. So I bought it.

Now, given that this may be my only shot, I'm thinking that attempting to reculture the yeast might not be a bad ...

Best Extract Stout Recipies

My wife and I are both stout lovers - her mostly the Guinness Draught from her time in Ireland, and me just about anything as long as it's good.

Running a bit low on the black at the mo' so chasing some good extract recipes (with some grains and stuff is fine). A really good Guinness clone would be ...

Rinse after drinking, then sanitise with iodophor, bottle tree with bottle rinser (the squirty thing on top). I don't really wash the bottles, just the rinse after drinking, then sanitise. The bottle rinser takes about a litre of water to do the lot. Then they sit on the tree draining for about half ...

Thanks Rysa, and (see previous silly question disclaimer) I assume that the excess C02 bleeds out under the seal before the Gladwrap reaches bursting point?

At the risk of asking a question that may, to some, seem stupid (I've seen what can happen)...

Do you sanitise the Gladwrap, or assume that the nice folk at the Glad factory have kept things pretty clean?

Less washing is attractive (in fermenters, not people).

Oh, just don't do it. If you really need a drink that badly, either move or go on holiday.

From what I understand about most of the countries where alcohol is illegal, it really is just best to avoid it altogether. They are usually pretty hard line and I doubt the memory of a beer that you've ...

RWH,

Yeah, I know, you are absolutely right. I don't really want to broadcast too many details just yet. If someone is interested, I will happily give them full details. I will also sing their praises to all and sundry both within and outside the brewing industry.

For the moment though, the event ...

Sponsorship (Urgent)!

Hi all,

Strange request I know, but...

The company I work for is hosting a charity event next week and our drink sponsor has pulled out last minute.

So we are now chasing beer (and wine) sponsors for the night. Thought it might suit a small commercial craft brewery who are making a good product ...

I'm not racking yet either, and I'm only on my fourth brew.

My first three all took more than two weeks, one of them nearly three at 22-24 degrees. I was worried too, but they taste fine.

Patience grasshopper.

You'll kill the yeast, but keep the nutrients and make the good yeast you *do* use much happier.

Really?

I've got about seven packs of kit yeast in the fridge I don't need, been wondering what to do with them. Making a Coops Sparkling starter tonight with the yeast harvested from a couple of ...

Great. Just read this as I've finished boiling up my LDME and I'm halway through my second longneck of Sparkling to harvest the yeast.

Now I'm going to have to switch to Pale.

Bugger.

You've completely buggered it mate, but if you want to drop it round to my place I'd be happy to dispose of it for you.
