TF,

I dont think anyone hit an answer to your q on what is a good recipe for a wheat beer.

I regularly use Morgans Sheaf Wheat kit with Morgans (or coopers) Liquid Wheat Malt - a bit of Light Dry malt (250g) and Yeast from 2 coopers pale ale stubbies roused. Its not a proper german weiss but it is ...

steveo,

Palm sugar a lot like brown sugar in cooking - so maybe a similar experience in beer? Brown sugar in a Milk Stout works well - You didnt mention the kind of kit ror grains you were using.

Please report results!

I have another - Given that Horlicks is about 42 % LDM combined with Wheat ...

I have done them at ale temp generally. Same with the Apple Ciders. 18-26ish deg seems to work. I'm not sure what actual yeast comes with some of these kits - it normally says "brewers yeast" which is useless for the keener brewer's thirst for detailed info. Someone here i'm sure has the skinny on ...

I thought the morgans lager might just be ale yeast but the packet says "lager yeast" and more importantly the packet states to brew it down to 15 deg. Like I said it was a constant 14 deg and it fermented strongly. I can only assume they use a lager yeast - which one I dont know. I'll go to their ...

never heard of using less sugar to prime. did they give a reason? I suppose if you are putting it down for a few months in the cold, less priming sugar would probably make little diff. Given that you are probably after a well carbonated lager - why skimp?

Currently (Kit) Lager Brewing in the Canberra cold and have three fermenters going with different versions. Have noted from some posts and notes that a rotten egg/ sulphur smell can occur with some lager yeasts/lager brews. Please - this just doesnt seem right - what is the chemistry that makes this ...

If you are a simple kit brewer - a recipe I use as my standard "clean wheat" is
1 x Morgans Sheaf Wheat Kit
1 x Morgans Master Blend Wheat Malt extract (liquid)
Throw in 250 g extra of Coopers Brew enhancer #2 (or some Light Dry Malt)
and the yeast of 2 cultured Coopers Pale Ale stubbies ...

Welcome Polar - another Canberra brewer. Agree with all the above and one actual advantage of twist top tallies is that you twist off obviously to decant your first beer and (unless you have a 750ml glass) twist the top firmly on again. This keeps it fully gassed and good to go unlike an old ...

The method above seems to be the same as mine just written out long hand - and needs your wort.

All I do is decant the stubby or two of Coopers Beer out, and drink it. Leave about an inch of sediment in the bottle and recap quickly with the lid you just took off. Assume here that the lid and inside ...

Despite the bad rap on the corn syrup - the Dark Ale turned out amazingly well. I was trying to imitate a Tooheys Old and came really close - by accident I suppose. There is a tart taste to begin with (but so does the real Old) and follows smoothly. My father in law who is a serious "old" man gave ...

This bloke obviously has a few tools but he has a good system. Good description and pics on the site. Always good to see it happenning in the kitchen so the wife can kick it and the kids can chuck lego bricks in it!

Brewiser Corn Syrup

Threw a Coopers Dark Ale down with some Left over brew enhancer + dark malt + goldings hops and a tin of this Brewiser Liquid Sugar. I only bought it because I hadnt seen it before and I believe in giving everything a chance. I note it says its contents are "Maize Starch" which I think translates to ...

Oliver

Dont know if you got a response to this one oliver - but I have put a number down with the yeast cultured from a Coopers Pale Stubby. I have success with the stubbies about 50 % of the time. Makes a great difference ...

Pale ale a goer

Just new to the site and reading through the posts.

I have a Coopers Pale Ale Bottled since 9 Dec 04 and its has come up trumps - unfortunately only a few longnecks left as they get demolished quickly. Used Coopers Brew Enhancer 2 (which by the way you can pick up at my local Woolworths for 3.99 ...
